The Summer Village of Bonnyville Beach advises residents that the 2026 Combined Assessment and Tax Notices will be mailed to all property owners on May 22, 2026, in accordance with Sections 310(4), 311, 336(1), and 337 of Alberta’s Municipal Government Act.
Under provincial legislation, assessed persons are deemed to have received their assessment and tax notices seven days after mailing.
Property owners are encouraged to review their notices carefully upon receipt and ensure payments are submitted by the due date indicated on the notice. Post-dated cheques will be accepted provided they are dated no later than the due date. Mailed payments must also bear a postmark dated no later than the due date shown on the notice. Late payment penalties may apply.
Residents who believe their assessment is inaccurate or unfair may file a written complaint with the Assessment Review Board. Complaints must clearly explain why the assessment is considered incorrect and must be submitted by July 29, 2026. A $150 filing fee is required. Property owners may also request assessment complaint forms, agent authorization forms, or summaries of their property assessments from the Village office.
The Village notes that filing an assessment complaint does not exempt property owners from paying taxes on time. Any successful appeal adjustments will be applied to the following year’s tax roll.
Questions regarding education taxes should be directed to the appropriate school board or Alberta Education Property Taxes.
