Why Bylaws Matter

Bylaws help maintain safety, order, and environmental quality in our quiet beach community.

Municipalities have bylaws to regulate local matters, manage community affairs, and ensure public order and safety. Bylaws, which are based on provincial authority, provide a framework for things like land use, noise levels, parking, animal control, and business operations, helping to maintain community standards and quality of life.

Land Use Bylaw

The purpose of this bylaw is to regulate the use and development of land and buildings within the Summer Village of Bonnyville Beach to achieve the orderly, economical and beneficial development of land and to maintain and improve the quality of the physical environment.

Intermunicipal Subdivision and Development Appeal Board Bylaw

The Council of the Summer Village of Bonnyville Beach delegates to the

Municipal District of Bonnyville No. 87 the authority to appoint members to

the Intermunicipal Subdivision and Development Appeal Board (ISDAB).

A municipal bylaw to establish an Intermunicipal Subdivision and Development

Appeal Board (ISDAB) in Alberta, under the Municipal Government Act (MGA).

This board hears appeals of subdivision and development decisions that span

multiple municipalities under an intermunicipal agreement.

Composite Assessment Review Board Bylaw

The Council of the Summer Village of Bonnyville Beach delegates to the

Municipal District of Bonnyville No. 87 the authority to appoint members to

the Composite Assessment Review Board (CARB).

A municipal bylaw to establish a Composite Assessment Review Board (CARB) in

accordance with Alberta’s Municipal Government Act (MGA) and Matters

Relating to Assessment Complaints Regulation (MRAC).

A Composite Assessment Review Board hears complaints about property

assessments for non-residential property or residential property with four

or more units.

The Council of the Summer Village of Bonnyville Beach delegates to the

Municipal District of Bonnyville No. 87 the authority to appoint members to

the Local Assessment Review Board (LARB).

A municipal bylaw to establish a Local Assessment Review Board (LARB) under

the Municipal Government Act (MGA) of Alberta.

The LARB hears assessment complaints about residential properties with three

or fewer dwelling units and farmland.

Speeding & Road Safety

Are YOU Speeding?

Speeding threatens safety. We are always working on increased enforcement of speed limits with the RCMP.

There are three speed limits in the Summer Village: 50 km/hour on the main Bonnyville Beach road, 30 km/hour on Perch Close and Walleye Way and 15 km/hour on the inside lane. The Village recently purchased two more speed recording signs to monitor speeding. Please do your part and spread the word to family, friends and guests to slow down. This applies to all vehicles, dirt bikes, motor bikes, ATV’s and quads. Please do not race or speed with ATVs or dirt bikes in the ditches – it causes damage and it is dangerous.

Speed Limits:

  • Main Road Speed Limit: 50 km/hour
  • Walleye Way & Perch Close: 30 km/hour
  • Lanes: 15 km/hour (including ATVs and off-road vehicles)

⚠️ Please do not drive ATVs or dirt bikes in the ditches – it causes costly damage.
